About Myopia Institute of NOVA
Our Mission
At Myopia Institute of NOVA, our mission is to provide proactive, evidence‑based myopia management that supports lifelong healthy vision so that your child can learn, play, and thrive without limits.

Our Story
After completing her ocular disease residency, Dr. Zhang settled in Northern Virginia, where her clinical experiences eventually led her to discover her passion for pediatric myopia management.
As a high myope herself, Dr. Zhang grew up without access to myopia management and experienced steadily worsening vision throughout childhood. That personal journey now fuels her commitment to providing proactive myopia care to children—so they can enjoy healthier eyes and a better quality of life well into adulthood.
For many years, Dr. Zhang never envisioned becoming a practice owner. It wasn’t until she became a mother that her perspective shifted. She realized she wanted the freedom to care for her own children while also serving other families with intention and heart. That vision ultimately led to the creation of Myopia Institute of NOVA.
Dr. Zhang understands that eye exams can feel intimidating—especially for children. With that in mind, she set out to build a warm, family‑oriented practice where children feel safe, listened to, and at ease. The office was thoughtfully designed to be kid‑friendly and inviting, allowing children to be themselves while receiving high‑quality, specialized eye care.
At Myopia Institute of NOVA, the goal extends beyond healthy vision. Every visit is designed to be positive, engaging, and empowering—so children leave not only seeing clearly, but feeling confident in their ability to learn, play, and pursue their dreams.

Meet the Practice Manager
Stephanie
Stephanie has worked in healthcare for over 20 years, with the last 7 focused on Myopia Management. As a high myope herself, Stephanie is committed to educating about myopia and giving kids better opportunities as they grow. She wants to make sure that today’s kids are not held back by their eyesight.

Having grown up on a dairy goat farm in Wisconsin, Stephanie loves animals, hiking, reading, and travel. After her dreams of becoming a pilot went unrealized due to her myopia, Stephanie changed focus to theatre. While she loves being on stage, she has found that her strengths lie in stage managing, directing, and public speaking.

Professionally, Stephanie is most happy when she is teaching kids how to put on contact lenses. Part mentor, part cheerleader, she loves being part of a child’s “aha" moment.
