About Us

Welcome to Myopia Institute of NOVA

Our Story

After completing her ocular disease residency, Dr. Zhang settled in Northern Virginia and worked in several modalities before discovering her passion: pediatric myopia management.

Being a high myope herself with no access to myopia management, she struggled with progressively worsening vision every year as a child. Now her goal is to provide myopia management to as many myopic children as she can so that they will have healthier eyes for life.

Despite many years of her husband’s constant persuading to open her own practice, Dr. Zhang did not envision herself as a practice owner. It was not until she had her own children that she realized that she wanted to be able to take care of her children while also helping other children on her own terms. Finally, she was ready to open Myopia Institute of NOVA.

Dr. Zhang understands how intimidating eye exams can be, even for adults. So she wanted to create a warm family-oriented environment where children can have fun and feel safe. That is why she decided to design a kid-friendly office where children can be children and be heard.

While our goal is to ensure children’s eyes are healthy, we also prioritize making each visit engaging and fun. We also hope each child leaves feeling empowered about having healthy eyes that will allow them to achieve their dreams and goals.
